Foodservice and Convenience
Partners in Sustainability
According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and World Economic Forum, more than 70 billion pounds of food is lost annually in the United States. Feeding America is the leading waste diversion partner across the food chain, currently diverting 3.3 billion pounds from landfills and turning it into 2.7 billion meals for people in need.
Restaurants, hotels, hospital, and convenience stores offer a variety of food and may be able to provide smaller quantities of highly perishable food donations.
More than 20 billion pounds of food within the hospitality industry is ending up in landfills today. Given the magnitude of wholesome food which can be recovered, Feeding America is concentrating on establishing more partnerships within the hospitality, foodservice, and convenience business channels.
